Introductions

The PTA Board members each wanted to share an introduction - we are excited about the coming school year.

Liv Gorman - President

Hello! I’m Liv Gorman, and I have a 3rd grader and a Kindergartener learning at Canyon Creek.  My husband and I both hail from Minneapolis, MN and we attended college in Wisconsin.  We moved to Bothell several years ago and haven't looked back since!

I work full time at the new Behavioral Health Clinic at EvergreenHealth, and my hubby heads to The Herb Farm restaurant everyday as a server.

When my family and I aren't hiking or examining animal tracks, I tend to be cooking, gardening and flexing my creative muscle via paint and textiles.

I am honored to be the President of this year's PTA, bringing along everything I learned last year as the V.P. of Communications.

I believe in the benefits of volunteering; educators and students are not nearly as supported as they should be. It truly does take a village to enrich our children's lives.  I can’t wait to collaborate with the amazing Canyon Creek clan and make a difference.

Hope to say ‘hi’ to you soon!

Jen Chan - Vice President: Programs

Greetings!  I’m Jen, and I have a son starting 1st grade at Canyon Creek and a daughter who is in pre-school.  My family and I moved to Bothell from southern California over 7 years ago.  Having served in the US Air Force and moving around to various locations, we are happy to finally call this place home.

This is my first year as VP of Programs and my first year being involved in any sort of PTA.  I enjoy being involved and meeting other parents.  Most importantly, I want to help make sure that our school can offer quality programs and events for our kids!

When there is free time between my career and being mom, I enjoy wine tastings with friends, bike riding, running, and playing tennis.  My family and I like to travel, go to museums, and explore new playgrounds!

I am looking forward to a wonderful year at Canyon Creek!

Michelle Lee - Vice President: Communication

Hi! My name is Michelle Lee. My family and I moved to Bothell from Cincinnati, Ohio about 6 years ago and this is our 3rd year at Canyon Creek. My eldest daughter is a 7th grader at Canyon Park Middle School and my youngest daughter is a 4rd grader this year at Canyon Creek.

This is will be my first year as VP-Communications, however I have been on the CCE PTA helping in some capacity since coming to this school. I love helping out and seeing how happy it makes all the kids!

I like photography, baking (and eating), and creating posts for social media (I’m also the CCE PTA Social Media Admin)! I am looking forward to seeing everyone on campus again this year!

Ashley Watts - Secretary

Hello! My name is Ashley Watts. I have lived in the Canyon Creek boundaries, in two different houses, for nine years. After years of having kids sent to Bear Creek Elementary, I am thrilled to have all my elementary kids back home at Canyon Creek, and with my youngest now in school I'm glad to have more time to be more involved with PTA. I have a 1st grade son and a 3rd grade daughter, as well as two middle schoolers at Skyview and two high schoolers at North Creek. We are a busy bunch!

This is my first year as CCE PTA secretary. I am also the Vice President of the HiCap Parents Council.

In our free time my family enjoys reading, puzzles and board games, and music through NSD's school bands and orchestras.

Looking forward to a great year, Coyotes!

Erika Del Villar (Advocacy)

Hello! My name is Erika Del Villar and I am thrilled to join the PTA and serve as this year’s Advocacy Chair. I have two daughters – a 2nd grader at Canyon Creek, and another who is in 8th grade at Skyview. Our family is new to Bothell and so far, we are loving the open and welcoming community.

My husband and I were born and raised in the Philippines and remain deeply connected to our roots. We look forward – as a family –  to sharing and celebrating our wonderful heritage with you all! Aside from enjoying pancit, lumpia, and halo-halo from various Filipino restaurants in Seattle, we enjoy biking through trails, playing (and watching) golf, singing, watching Marvel movies, and traveling together.

A little about my background: I am a political scientist and sociologist by training, and have worked in the areas of human rights, international politics, global security, and equity issues both in the international development field and in academia over the years. Currently, I work on strategy and competency development around diversity, equity, and inclusion in a higher education institution.

I am excited and honored to advocate for our children – and their success and wellness – at Canyon Creek. I have always believed in our collective power as citizens to be involved in issues that affect us, our children, and our families; and I look forward to being able to do that for and with all of you!
