Sustainability Corner: November
Sustainability Corner: November Canyon Creek 2019-20 Green Team Members were selected from a large pool of interested 3rd and 4th grade applicants. It was so exciting to receive so many applications; thank you everyone!! The first Green Team meeting was on Wednesday, October 16th. The meetings will continue on the third Wednesday of each month. Green Team members will soon be working on our campus in a variety of ways to reduce waste, clean our campus, and teach others how to recycle better. Running Club 2019-20!
Join us for 2019-20 Running Club! Canyon Creek Elementary and Canyon Creek PTA work together to provide the "Running Club". A fun way to get energy out before the start of the school day! Helping Hands Program Canyon Creek PTA has a new program called Canyon Creek PTA Helping Hands . This is a completely confidential assistance program for families of Canyon Creek that is coordinated through Canyon Creek Office Manager, Sue Hanson. The PTA will help fulfill needs, but will have no information about who the families are. Legislative Assembly - What Happened?
What Happened at Legislative Assembly? What an engaging and enriching weekend in Bellevue, as delegates from across the state attended the 41st Annual WSPTA Legislative Assembly to learn, collaborate, debate, and ultimately vote on a variety of legislative principles, issues, and resolutions. All for Books - 2019
Dear Canyon Creek Families,  We have an opportunity to bring books to families needing assistance within our Canyon Creek Community. Scholastic calls it 'All For Books'. November 6th through December 6th , send any loose change or dollar bills with your student to class in a marked envelope with their name and teacher. Your student will be given an “All for Books Donation Book Slip” that they will write their name on and all donation slips will be proudly displayed in the library hallway. Washington State Car Seat Laws are Changing!
Important information about the car seat laws going into effect on January 1st, 2020!  The revised car seat law will require the following: Children up to age 2 must be properly secured in a rear-facing car seat. Children ages 2-4 must be properly secured in a car seat with a harness (rear or forward facing). Children 4 and older and less than four feet nine inches tall must be secured in a booster seat with seat belt (or continue in harness seat). Student Council Warm Sock Drive
Student Council - Warm Sock Drive! The Canyon Creek PTA Student Council met the week of October 28th and decided to host a Warm Sock Drive to benefit the  New Bethlehem Center (a local homeless shelter). Each classroom will have a box available for donations of NEW SOCKS from November 12th to November 15th . Canyon Creek Elementary  Arrival & Dismissal Times In Northshore school district, we have early release Wednesdays. These are days when students are released 1 1/2 hours early to allow for teacher planning, collaboration & meetings.
