A message from Canyon Creek's School Nurse, Nurse Susan:

Canyon Creek Screening Day was October 9, 2018.

It was a great success thanks to our District Screening Team, PTA, Northwest University Nursing Students and especially our wonderful Volunteers!

Special thanks to the following volunteers in our Canyon Creek communitiy:
Faye Heng, Liz Wright, Susan Kuniyuki, Miwako Farr, Katie Hunter, Satya Pulugurta, Elesha Ostrander, Mariel Villa, Joy Schuler, Nicole Trimble, and our PTA President, Melanie McKenzie, for her assistance.

Because of their support, we were able to screen all of our students early in the year. School districts without the kind of support we have at Northshore, sometimes cannot complete their screenings until midway through the school year, possibly delaying necessary interventions.

School screenings are a tool that can identify a possible vision or hearing problem but do not take the place of a professional examination. Approximately 60 students were identified as needing follow-up by their health care provider this year. The families of those students will receive referral letters by mail. Any family who does not have insurance or resources for a professional exam is encouraged to contact the school nurse to assist with resources.
