Highly Capable Screening and Assessments

for 2021-22

Students in Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 5th grade will be participating in universal Highly Capable screening in their regular classroom this fall. Students in grades 2-4 can be screened if they are referred to the Highly Capable department by October 15th at 4 pm. (Referrals can be made by parents, guardians, grandparents, teachers, etc.) Students who qualify to participate in Highly Capable assessments based on their screening results or who have a single subject qualification and wish to test in the other subject area will need permission from their parents/guardians in order to be assessed. Both referral and assessment can be allowed by filling out the following form: https://www.nsd.org/schools/programs-services/highly-capable-services/eligibility/referral

Students in kindergarten who receive Holistic Highly Capable designation will receive enrichment services in the 2nd half of kindergarten and in 1st grade in their regular classroom. Students in 1st grade and above who receive a Highly Capable designation after assessment will receive services starting in the 2022-23 school year.
