PTA Book Swap was a success! Between the books purchased by the PTA and those collected from the amazing Canyon Creek community, we were able to give out over ~1200 books to our students to encourage summer reading as well as many books to teachers for their classrooms! Thanks to everyone for their book donations and especially to Autumn Mikela, who donated a very large number of books. We are so thankful for your generosity!
As students came through with their classrooms, they were able to browse and select their books. Then they could guess the number of jelly beans and jolly ranchers in jars for a chance to win the jars of candy. There was lots of excitement over this challenge, and many musing of how the winner would be decided, what would be done with the candy, and some very scientific discussions to calculate the amount of items in each jar. There was also excitement from many kids over the books, and it was heartwarming to hear kids make book recommendations to their classmates, hear them talk about their favorite literary characters, and to hear the happiness when the kids were told they got to keep the books.
Thanks to all of the amazing volunteers who helped with organizing the books, manning the swap, and helping with clean up.

A special thank you to Priya Patel (UPS store - Kenmore) for printing the stickers that were used to check out the books and the all of the bookmarks that kids were able to take home and color.
It was an overall great event, and we can't wait to do it again next year!
