Canyon Creek PTA needs YOU! Our organization is entirely volunteer-based. Please consider volunteering and helping us to meet our mission of supporting programs that serve every student, building community, and celebrating the diversity of our school.

Interested in what is happening in national, state and local levels regarding what is best for our students? Want to help share that information with our membership and school community? Our advocacy chair reports on current and upcoming information & events that help educate and mobilize our membership and community. |
| Membership | Would you like to help us share our mission and explain why membership in our PTA is a great thing? Become our Membership Chair and work with the board to establish our annual membership goal - and strategies to meet that goal! We have ideas we can share from prior year, but are open to other ideas you might have. |
| Family Bingo Night | Do you love organizing parties? Are you excited to procure and build prize baskets and raffle prizes? We are seeking a volunteer (or volunteers) to plan and run our annul PTA Family Bingo Night fundraiser. This event is one of Canyon Creek families' favorites - and our biggest fundraising event. (With volunteers available to help out with planning & execution!) |
| Fundraising Event | Do you have fundraising ideas? Are you interested in helping our PTA (non-profit organization) raise funds for all the great events and programs we offer? Take on the development and implementation of a new fundraising event. This is a great opportunity for an individual or a group of passionate volunteers! Silent auction with dinner, etc. |
| Partnerships | Are you interested in coordinating fundraising events with partners in our community or online? Develop and promote PTA fundraising opportunities, including silent fundraising management, special events, and ongoing community partnerships. Includes coordinating Dine-Out events (MOD, Menchies, etc), Fred Meyer & Amazon Smile, Shutterfly program, etc. |

Do you have an interest in computer programming or just think it is important to share with students? Help us bring programming to students via the "Hour of Code" (www.code.org) events. |
| Literacy |
Are reading and literacy passions of yours? Work to promote literacy in the Canyon Creek community through program(s) and/or event(s). Plan a book swap or reading program - or a literacy night. |
| Multicultural Night |
Are you passionate about the bringing cultures and communities together? Organize an event that celebrate the cultural diversity of our school and community. We have some fun ideas, just need someone to take the lead on coordinating it. |
| Playground | Is fun and safety on the playground important to you? Work to identify and communicate playground/outside needs and help advocate for and implement any changes. |
| STEM Fair | Do you want to help encourage students to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math? Organize the STEM Fair for our school, including registration, providing resources and tri-fold boards, and coordinating the event. |

Are you excited about sharing your passion around STEM with students? Help us by creating a hand-on event to demonstrate all sorts of fun Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Math fundamentals to Canyon Creek students. |
| Spelling Bee ** Filled ** |
Are you interested in encouraging students to excel at spelling? Do you want to engage and provide students the opportunity to participate in our school spelling bee? This event is a perfect one to get involved in, especially if you are an organized and detailed person. Work with the past chair in organizing and planning our yearly spelling bee. One spelling bee practice to take place in January 2021 and the Spelling Bee will be in February 2021. |
| Back to School Ice Cream Social ** Filled ** |
Want to help build community before school starts in the fall? Are you excited to brainstorm about ways to get the year kicked off well? Our back to school event is typically New Family Tours, Classroom Open House (coordinated by the school), and the Ice Cream Social. With the current situation, we aren't sure what this fall will look like and if we will be allowed to have our traditional event. We would LOVE to find someone work with our PTA board to come up with alternative options! |
| Community Outreach | Do you have ideas about how we can better serve our community? Develop community outreach ideas with the PTA Executive Board - and then plan, organize and implement these ideas! |
| Family Fun: Game Night ** Filled ** |
Are you a board game person? Do you want to bring our school community together with games? Plan and organize this fun and free family event where families can come to learn and play games. |
| Spiritwear ** Filled ** |
Are you good at logistics and want to help us create community? Plan and manage fall spirit wear sales, including but not limited to, ordering, inventory management, marketing, event sales, and product delivery. |
| Summer Fun | Do you have an incoming Kindergartener? Would you like to help Kindergartener's and their families feel better about starting school in the fall? Coordinate efforts to build community during the summer through summer events, such as play dates. Also, support incoming kindergarten families through our Facebook Group specifically for these families. (You don't need an incoming kindergartener to take this on!) |
| Volunteer Coordinator | Would you enjoy helping match volunteers to opportunities? Act as the point-of-contact person for people interested in volunteering, maintain lists of people who indicate they want to volunteer, contact them when the need arises (e.g., event support, special projects, etc.), and also work to find ways to recognize and appreciate our amazing volunteers! |
| Book Room Coordinator | Do you LOVE books? Would you enjoy helping to get books into classrooms and sent home with kids? Work with Canyon Creek staff to manage and maintain the Book Room, including working closely with Canyon Creek teachers and staff on organization, preparation and maintenance of materials. |
| Health Room Liaison | Would you like to help students get tested for vision and hearing - to ensure they can learn effectively? Act as PTA liaison to the school nurse and assist with health screenings. This is mostly focused on the screening day in October - but also might have smaller projects over the course of the year. |
| Library Brigade | Are you good at organization and scheduling? Coordinate Library Assistant volunteers for class library support - and keep volunteer updated on the class library schedule. Library Assistant duties include checking class books in and out, student check-out inquiries, distributing & placing holds and placing returned books back to the shelves. |
| Student Council Liaison | Interested in helping students make a difference at Canyon Creek? Act as PTA liaison to Canyon Creek's Student Council, supporting their community outreach efforts and assisting the staff advisor as needed. |
