Build your leadership skills and support your school by serving on the 2019-20 Canyon Creek Elementary PTA Board! If you are looking to become more involved, the Nominating Committee would love to hear from you!
Canyon Creek PTA is now accepting nominations for the following Executive Officer positions for the 2019-2020 school year:
Review job descriptions for each of these positions.
We have two new positions available this year, President Elect and Assistant Treasurer. We are hoping that these positions will make it a little easier to make the step into a leadership position by "shadowing" either President or Treasurer for a year. These are elected positions with a vote on the executive board - but focused on learning with the goal of being trained and ready to take on President/Treasurer the following year.
For some added insight, two of our 5 current executive board members will not be at our school next year (and won't be running for a 2nd year in their current positions) due to kids moving up to middle school - and they shared thoughts about being a part of the PTA executive board:
Jennifer Herrman (Vice President: Programs) - "Being on the board of the Canyon Creek PTA has been an incredible experience. More than simply fulfilling a desire to volunteer and be involved at my children’s school; it has provided a leadership voice into the events, priorities and logistics of the happenings and priorities of our PTA, School, District & beyond. VP Programs in particular has allowed my family and I to help create & participate in more events and try new things from STEM to Game Night to Bingo to Multicultural Night to Attending state conference. Most of all being a member of the PTA Board has been the catalyst to meet our neighbors, community members, school teachers & staff and now call many of these dedicated people our friends."
Shea Johnson (Secretary) - "I have enjoyed making new connections with fellow parents that I may not have had the opportunity to get to know since our children are in different grades. It has been great to foster these new friendships and work together to build and even stronger and more connected school community. I know that some of the people I have met through my position on the board will be my friends for a long time to come!"
