Free Summer Meals for Children 18 and Younger

There are a number of food programs in the Northshore area to support families during the summer months.

  • The Northshore School District will serve breakfast and lunch at no charge to all children who are 18 and younger thanks to a program funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Children do not have to be enrolled in the District to receive this benefit. The program will run from June 25 to August 17, Monday through Friday, except for July 4 and 5, at Northshore Middle School, located at 12101 NE 160th St. Bothell, WA.
  • Free summer lunches for children 18 years and under will be provided by the Northshore YMCA, June 25 - Aug. 24, Monday thru Friday at two locations:
    • Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Ave. N.E., Kenmore, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
    • First Lutheran Church, 10207 NE 183rd St., Bothell, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.

    • The Northshore Community Kitchen (a Northshore Council PTSA program) will be providing lunch on Wednesdays for the adults who take their children to the YMCA's summer lunch sites in Kenmore and Bothell.
  • King County Library System is will have Summer Meals at the Library at 12 locations across King County. The meals are free for all children and teens ages birth to 18. There are no restrictions on family income and no registration is required. Come for lunch, then hang out to read and learn.
  • The USDA provides a number of resources, in both English and Spanish, to raise awareness in your community. 
    • USDA Summer Meals Locator: 1-866-328-6325 (1-866-EAT-MEAL). Families will receive assistance to find the location, meal times, and contact information for summer meals based on their full address, city, and/or zip code.
    • USDA Summer meals finder at fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks. This website is easy for families to use as they can access summer meals locations by entering their zip code.
  • Text FOOD or COMIDA to 877877. You will receive a message back with the closest location and the system prompts you to provide their address or zip code, which is used to provide the location and service times of up to three nearby summer meals sites. This is a nationwide program run by No Kid Hungry. (download flyer)
